How to Create a Logo in Adobe Illustrator?

Adobe Illustrator is one of the most well-known graphic design and editing programs. Graphic designers, editors, artists, and web designers use it worldwide. Adobe Illustrator offers all artists a platform to convert their concepts into digital forms. It is easy and clear to use for both professionals and beginners because of its powerful and distinctive range of tools. It’s a well-known tool for designing logos. That’s why, in this post, we will show you how to create a logo in Adobe Illustrator. Let’s get started.

Write a Brief: A creative brief for your client should be written down before you even launch Illustrator. You’ll be stumbling around in the dark attempting to guess what the client wants if you don’t have a brief. Start with the following questions.

  • What are the brand’s values?
  • What does the business do?
  • Who is the target audience?
  • What types of design does your client like?

Create a basic sketch: At this point, don’t stress about drawing “perfect.” Quickly and without giving it any thought, draw. Just focus on getting the concept onto paper and out of your mind. You ought to scribble down as many thoughts and opinions as you can. Sometimes after drawing sketches, it’s necessary to step back and review your designs.

Refine your sketches: Look for flaws, think about how to modify them, then pick your favorite aspects. Afterward, continue sketching the few designs you like the best periodically. Creating the same thing more than once might seem like a loss of effort, but it has a lot of benefits. Each variation will get progressively better, and on your fifth or sixth try, you might just come up with the perfect one.

Digitize your logo: Get ready with your drawing tool and chose your drawing program. Draw your logo as precisely as you can. Use black or a dark color to make it easier to trace as cleanly as possible. Remember that this is the actual logo at this point, not just a drawing. Your logo will appear handcrafted with this technique. To import the image into a new CMYK project, choose File > Place or simply drag & drop the image into your artboard. In the Layers Panel, rename the layer that contains your sketch. Utilize the opacity slider to lessen the transparency of the image, then lock the layer. Add a new layer on top after that. After selecting it, trace the sketch with the Pen Tool.

Add Text: Create a path for the tagline by first drawing a line or other shape. Then, using the Type on a Path tool, select the line. then start typing! Expand and center the text to make it fit anywhere you like. Choose a font that complements and improves your illustration, and make sure the two don’t clash. Your presentation needs to flow smoothly. With an open mind, experiment with the script, serif, and serif fonts as well as the most recent font trends.

Add Color: Select the elements that need color. Then, choose the Shape Builder tool and click and hold over the necessary coloring-in areas. If it is a closed path that can change into a shape, you will see a light grey fill color. After making each shape, you can play around with color! First, gather all things of the same hue together. If you do this, changing colors will be easier for you in the future. Following the selection of each element, you wish to change, pick Recolor Artwork from the toolbar and begin changing the color values.

Present your logo: Once your logo is perfect, put together a professional presentation. Make care to display all of the logo’s components, including the many color variations. The presentation doesn’t have to be excessive. Keep your writing concise, clean, and transparent.

Final Thoughts: Logo design is an art. One blog post cannot fully explain it. You must read a number of design books, watch a variety of tutorial videos, and enroll in a list of online courses (about illustrators) to become an expert in logo design. If you want to learn more about the illustrator, you can always go to YouTube and watch tutorial videos. On YouTube, there are thousands of videos in illustrator. For YouTube hand-holding training, use Career Ninja’s LearnTube. Learn Tube creates a course framework from the results of your YouTube search. If you search for “illustrator tutorial” on YouTube, LearnTube will show you a series of videos that look like an online course. As a beginner, you’ll go through the videos from beginning to end, as if you were taking a YouTube course customized particularly for you.
